IUCN Red List - species-assessment data-entry system (SIS DEM)

Built and enhanced the data-entry module behind the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Period
2005-2008
Services
The application side of the database boundary

Built and extended SIS DEM (the Species Information Service Data Entry Module) for IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature - the application scientists around the world use to enter and validate the data behind species assessments for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

I built a reliable data-entry layer over a shared scientific dataset, used by a distributed and largely non-technical research community. Correctness and clarity mattered more there than anything clever, and I kept it that way.
